Award winning theatre organisation evam, which will be turning 15 years, kick-started its celebrations with a unique ‘evam lab Fellowship’ in Oct 2016, for young aspiring actors / performers who want to pursue a career in performing arts. Aspiring performing artists in the city of Chennai, while trying to build a career, face a dearth of opportunities to perform, regular training and financial stability. evam lab fellowship was meant to address these issues by providing a platform to incubate talent and enable sustainable careers in the arts, for 10 talented full time artists.
Last year, in its pilot phase, evam lab ‘16 fellowship was offered to 10 Chennai based full time artists who learnt together, trained together and delivered 25+ creative projects for corporates, Colleges, NGO’s using theatre, dance, music, visual arts apart from pursuing their career in creative arts. Till now, the evam lab-ers, along with a dynamic team of training professionals from Training Sideways (evam Corporate Training Pvt Ltd), have created Art-based interactive solutions for organisations and companies in the form of play shops on topics like "Diversity in Inclusion", "Salesman No.1" etc. The past year has seen evam lab-ers working from scratch, sitting and brainstorming with the directors, creating innovative live performances and delivering 50+ shows. These range from a children’s play for Karadi Tales to corporate theatre on inclusion for Microsoft to training nurses of the Cancer Institute, Chennai.
They also conduct corporate theatre workshops and flash mobs for “Brand or Product launches” and engagements dealing with Social Awareness in schools and colleges in the form of corporate clown shows, musicals and energisers for a crowd strength ranging from 15 to 2000! The organisations we have worked with include Accenture, GSK, HUL, Avtar, Bajaj Finance Ltd, Vodafone and many more.
